Mehmet Ş. and his wife, Şefika Ş., began to argue on Monday for reasons that are not yet known at their home in the village of Yedikuyu. Erdi Zeytinci, 22, encountered his ex-wife D.Ö. on Monday in a park on the Seyhan Nehri seashore in Adana. An argument broke out between the two, and not long after, D.Ö. reportedly wanted to leave the park. Zeytinci began to run after D.Ö. and then stabbed her three times with a knife he was carrying on his person. Upon notification by witnesses in the park, an ambulance arrived on the scene and rushed D.Ö. to the hospital. After fleeing the scene, Zeytinci threw the knife into a nearby river and was detained by police. According to police reports, he said: “She lied and insulted me. I could not take it, so I stabbed her.” D.Ö. remains under hospital care and is in critical condition, according to hospital records.
